As a Home Rule City with over 6,000 residents, Eastwood would become part of the Planning Unit, giving it critically needed Zoning Authority. It will also protect Single-Family Zoning (R-4), which is on the verge of elimination from proposed Land Development Code Reform and Middle Housing.
Providing a police department in the Eastwood area would help augment LMPD. The need is an inevitable fact of growth in our area. It is a necessary step in building a thriving and secure city. Crime patterns are changing, and as density increases, so do opportunities for criminal behavior.
Access to Local Government Premium Tax, Management of State Highway Funds, and other sources of revenue
Residents will no longer pay for this privately or through HOA fess. The City of Eastwood will provide Solid Waste Pickup.
Smaller streamlined local government provides direct access, responsiveness, open door policies, and community involvement with limited red tape. This helps ensure our monies go to our area
