Once Incorporated, Eastwood would join the JPU (Joint Planning Unit) along with 12 other Home Rule Cities in Louisville. Eastwood would have final approval for zoning and development. By virtue of its own Land Development Code, it would also be able to manage the Proposed Middle Housing concepts, which are now PROHIBITED.
Eastwood would be able to create and adopt a new land development code or adopt the current LDC Jefferson County has, in whole or with exceptions. The new LDC does not have to be identical to the current one in place (KRS 100.205). Eastwood would be able to make additional amendments and create new ordinances while maintaining objective standards. The process is and can be bidirectional. (KRS 100.211 (3))
By Joining the 12 other Home Rule Cities in the JPU, PU, we would have a seat at the table, cards in our hands, and money to play the game. The 12 other current cities are:
